  1. Love all the valuable info you’ve provided. Never knew that soy and gluten could have such an impact on the skin, Thanks for the insight!!!

  2. Thank you so much. I figured out that I was very sensitive to glycerine about 3 years ago. It has been so difficult to find products, especially skincare for dry, 30something skin! I’ve been researching and label reading for 3yrs. Can you clarify, is glycerine a derivived from soy?
I’m in dire need of anti-aging, and more so, hydrating facial creams and makeup removers and a good gentle cleanser. Can you help? I’m also allergic to ALL nuts.
Products that I’ve found to be glycerine free: Tresseme Volumizing shampoo, Pantene aqua light conditioner, Yonka Pampelmousse and one othermoisturizer is glycerine free (sorry, can’t remember the name), Skinceuticals foaming face wash-but it’s somewhat drying And doesn’t remove make/minerals well.

    • Hello Amber! I am so sorry for the late reply! Glycerin is not always derived from soy, it varies depending on the company and what they choose to source for their glycerin. Some companies have soy free glycerin, others are derived from soy so it is something to watch out for! Are you certain to have a glycerin allergy or is there a possibility it may be soy allergy? I would like to recommend using facial oils, I find that rose hip oil is universally great as a moisturizer and grapeseed oil works well for some people as a cleanser. This way your positive about what is in it. If you are not a fan of oils, Lancome Visionnaire Serum or the Genefique Serum I had confirmed as being soy and gluten free a while ago, you can call back and ask if they are nut free but these products have glycerin which is a definite no if you have a glycerin allergy. The problem is glycerin is in SO many products so it makes things tricky! Based on your skin type i would recommend Egyptian Magic as a moisturizer or this product, the Newco Face Gel (Hyaluronic Acid), it is the only thing I can think of which I believe is free of all the allergens you mentioned, I personally liked it a lot and hyaluronic acid is excellent for hydration and aging! I hope this was helpful, I’ll let you know if I find anything else which might be good for you! 🙂

  3. Thank you for the tips. I’m trying to find products that are soy free and your research on makeup and skin care was very helpful!

  4. I have found Arbonne product to be excellent. Are you familiar with them? For people who don’t have allergies is there a problem with soy in cosmetics in general? That question is what led me to your site.

    • I have heard of Arbonne and I have heard good things but I haven’t personally gotten confirmed whether it is soy and gluten free! I haven’t tried their products myself but if you have please let me know which products you like! I find that soy is more so an issue for those who are allergic to soy! For those who aren’t allergic to soy it still may be an issue if the soy is not from NON GMO sourced soybeans! Soy is the number one most genetically modified ingredient and food currently and for many people they develop allergies to soy much later in their life like myself. I personally never had an issue all thru high school I noticed it came full force in university! Soybeans which is 100% and NON GMO (not genetically modified) are good so if you are concerned about soy being bad for you and don’t have an allergy perhaps looking for NON GMO skincare would be a good solution for you! I find whole foods has many including Antipodes and John Masters but again some of their products have soy and gluten for those who are allergic! All the best!

  5. I am so glad I found your blog Sadie, it’s been a great help. I was diagnosed with a soy allergy last August. Been using Bare Minerals and Ultra Pure, but stared breaking out severely and I am 56!! Understand now about the bismuth oxychloride in the Bare Minerals but have you heard about reactions to mica? Obviously I have very sensitive skin, what have you found that works for you? Any comments are greatly appreciated!

    • I am so so sorry that this reply is so late! Breaking out is never fun and I really hope it gets under control for you! Bare Minerals Matte is free of bismuth oxychloride and I am currently using that myself! I have heard that some people do break out from mica as it can be an irritant! Mica is in most powdered makeup forms but the more higher it is on the ingredient list the more it can can irritate your skin since the product is more concentrated in it! It is really hard to find mica free blush, perhaps try a bronzer, opting for the bare minerals matte in a tanner shade should suffice, I am using nude by nature blush which has mica in it, for me it hasn’t been an issue but everyone’s skin varies! I will keep a look out for you and I’ll let you know if I find a mica free blush!I hope this is helpful for you!!! 🙂

  6. Hi, do you know which MAC and bare Minerals products are still gluten- and soy-free? Have a bub that is severely allergic to wheat and dairy and slightly to soy. We have adjusted our diets accordingly but just suddenly realized that the bath and beauty products for the adults need to be reevaluated too 🙂

    • The only mac product I feel comfortable using is the Prep + Prime Highlighter Pen, loads of MAC products contain soy and gluten which sucks cause I used to love shopping there! The last time I checked for the prep + prime highlighter was a while ago so please double check before purchasing but I am still using it without issues! As for Bare Minerals I use their Matte Foundation powder and that one I love, They also have their loose blushes but the bismuth oxychloride can be a skin aggravator and many people have complained that for them it can cause cystic breakouts so be careful of that! I am quite minimal with the products I use and those are the only two I will recommend, if you want a bronzer try a darker bare minerals matte foundation and that is a great alternative! So sorry for the late reply but I hope you find this helpful and please let me know if you have any other questions!

  7. Gabriel Cosmetics just changed there lines Gariele and Zuzu to gluten and soy free. I got confirmation from the owner of the company. Plus I had it confirmed twice 😊

  8. You may look into UltraPureCosmetics.com. These cosmetics are all free of gluten and most of them are also soy free as well.
